Abstract
The article is empirical. The aim of the article was to compare motivation to help and personality traits of Polish and German students preparing to work with seniors. The research question to which the research was sought was: Do they exist and if so what differences in the motivation to help and in the personality traits of Polish and German students preparing to work with seniors? The research method was the diagnostic survey, and the research tools were: a questionnaire of own design by Anna Kanios and Anna Bocheńska-Brandt and the NEO-FFI Questionnaire by Paul T. Costa and Robert R. McCrae for the diagnosis of personality traits from the Big Five model. The obtained research results prove that future careers of the elderly differ in terms of motivation to help and selected personality traits. In the group of students from Germany, the most common motivation accompanying young people when they decide to work with seniors are interests, and in the group of students from Poland it is a sense of calling to help other people. Also statistically significant differences were found in terms of personality traits. They occurred in the range of scales such as neuroticism, extraversion and agreeableness.
