Hybrid Identity on the Cultural Borderland – Potential and Personal and Group Problem?

Abstract

The study attempts to justify the thesis that concerns the need for education policy to create a possibility of independent identity choices. It was pointed out that the cultural borderland, in a natural way, enables the creation of a hybrid identity which is human potential but also raises personal and group problems. In addition, authorities and significant people were presented (among others Sokrat Janowicz, Ludwik Zamenhof, Samuel Pisar, Janusz Korczak, Piotr Lachmann, Wojciech Korfanty, Czesław Miłosz), indicating the formation and representation of a hybrid identity by them. The author drew attention to the conditions that should be assured, for activities that should be undertaken by education, so that man would not feel enslaved in the process of shaping identity, but felt support in the process of creating and realizing his hybrid potential.
