Symbolika morska na monetach Heroda Wielkiego jako dowód na morskie ambicje króla Judei?
Streszczenie w języku polskim
Artykuł przedstawia analizę symboliki na monetach Heroda Wielkiego związanej z morzem, dzięki której próbuję odpowiedzieć na pytania: czy Herod Wielki prowadził jakąkolwiek politykę morską, a w szczególności czy posiadał okręty wojenne. W badaniach wykorzystałem dostępne źródła pisane i archeologiczne, a także dokonałem analizy porównawczej mennictwa Heroda z monetami emitowanymi przez innych władców Judei oraz z monetami innych władców starożytnych, na których widnieją symbole morskie. Na tej podstawie podjąłem próbę ustalenia, czy Herod Wielki prowadził realną politykę morską, mając ku temu odpowiednie możliwości, czy też w przypadku jego monet mamy do czynienia tylko z aspektami propagandowymi.
