Prof. dr hab. Joanna Wilk-Racięska works at  the University of Silesia, Katowice, Poland. She holds degrees from The Jagiellonian University and The University of Silesia. She has published widely on semantics, pragmatics, cognitive linguistics and the linguistics of humour primarily on issues relating to aspect, language variation and change, argumentation, irony, mental spaces and blending, etc. Her other areas of interest are sociolinguistics and communication (critical discourse analysis).
