Pathology Normalized: Narcissus, Midas and Single

Abstract


The author describes the pathologies of modernity, which are associated with consumerism and neoliberal slogan “profit above all”. In addition to the social consequences of “successism” the author suggests preference of the certain characteristics and attitudes such as self-centeredness, lack of sensitivity to another person, toughness, cynicism, cunning and shamelessness. They appear to be in this kind of a liberal system necessary to gain narrowly understood physical and mental health.
