Email this article Ethnolinguistic dictionaries and the dynamics of cognitive orientations: what needs to be recorded and why?
Abstract
The article examines the problem of lexicographic representation of ethnolinguistic data in the context of a breakdown in a community's cognitive orientations. The new linguistic facts relating to Russia's full-scale aggression on Ukraine and the discursive representation of the Russian-Ukrainian war make it possible to examine the relationship between language and culture in terms of cognitive orientational dynamics. This provides a foundation for exploring the need to record cultural data in ethnolinguistic dictionaries. The empirical basis consists of facts of the current Ukrainian language and culture. These data are analysed from semantic and pragmatic perspectives, with a focus on cognitive-semantic changes influenced by context.
